What Is a Mandibular Advancement Device?
A mandibular advancement device (MAD) is a custom-fitted oral appliance worn during sleep. The oral appliance will hold the lower jaw (the mandible) in a slightly advanced position, providing a more stable airway, and making it less likely to collapse (sleep apnea) or partially collapse (snoring).

Appliance Styles We Use
Not all mandibular advancement devices are the same. Different designs suit different patients based on anatomy, bite, and severity of sleep apnea. We select the right style for each individual. These are just some of the general styles we offer.
Herbst Appliance
Features rigid metal connectors on each side that allow the mouth to open and close freely while holding the lower jaw forward.
Dorsal Appliance
A two-piece design with fin-and-slot connectors that come in mulltiple material options, allowing the mouth to open and close freely.
Panthera D-SAD
A precision-milled, ultra-thin nylon device fabricated using 3D digital scanning. One of the most comfortable and durable MADs available. Its slim profile makes it easy to wear and ideal for patients with limited mouth opening.

A two-piece design with a low profile and straps on either side that position the lower jaw in a precise position while sleeping.
